The Environment

JDS Toys & Games Limited is a company with a social concience.
We are aware that the existence of our business has an impact on the environment, we therefore strive very hard to ensure that our company operates in a way that minimises our impact on the environment as much as possible.

Waste disposal
The running of our business does generate a certain amount of waste. We do generate a typical amount of general office waste as well as a fair amount of cardboard. This is from the cartons that the products arrive in. We are currently using a company called Bath Recycling skips who collect all of our waste including the cardboard. Although they are not the cheapest wast disposal firm in the city we have chosen them because they recycle over 80% of all waste they collect. This is currently a much better ratio that our local council.

Transportation of goods
All of the goods on our website are imported from other countries. We import from Poland and as far afield as India and China. While many of our competitors continue to use costly and high carbon producing air freight for all of their stock we are shipping over 90% of our products using sea freight. This means we import higher quantities and store them in the UK rather than making small orders and having them flown over every few weeks. We only use air freight in cases where it is the only viable option.

Foreign Travel
Because our suppliers are based abroad we do make regular visits to them to carry out quality control checks and develop new product lines. Unfortunately this does involve the use of commercial air travel. For environmental and cost reasons we limit our international trips to two per year as a maximum and try to keep it one per year when ever possible.
